Breaking Bad · 7 episodes
High school chemistry teacher Walter White's life is suddenly transformed by a dire medical diagnosis. Street-savvy former student Jesse Pinkman "teaches" Walter a new trade.
When we meet Walter White, he's an overqualified, underpaid high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque, scraping by with a part-time job at a car wash to support his pregnant wife, Skyler, and their teenage son. A sudden, sobering medical diagnosis forces Walt to confront both his mortality and the financial hole his family could soon face — and it pushes him to make a decision that turns his quiet life upside down. Drawing on his deep knowledge of chemistry, Walt partners with Jesse Pinkman, a slacker former student already tangled up in the local drug scene. Together they form an unlikely, often combustible team, with Walt supplying the expertise and Jesse the street connections. Their early attempts to break into the trade quickly prove far messier and more dangerous than Walt imagined, forcing him to cross lines he never thought he would and to keep an increasingly tangled web of secrets from those closest to him — including his DEA agent brother-in-law, Hank. Over these first episodes, we watch a mild-mannered man begin to discover just how far he's willing to go, and how much he's willing to hide, as the pressures of his double life start to mount.
